The Philippine National Police (PNP) is tasked to enforce the law, fight illegal drugs and crimes, maintain peace and order, with the active support of the people in the community.
In an attempt to clean up its corrupt-tainted police force, the Philippine government has urged hundreds of top officers to offer “courtesy” resignations. Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos has urged them to submit their resignations by January 31.
Ranks of PNP Officers
Ranks of police officers in the Philippines depend on their training, experience, and performance. In the PNP, officers are expected to maintain professional standards and behave in an ethical manner. This can be achieved by promoting good relationships with peers and the community.
The ranks of PNP officers range from entry level to the top of the police force. Officers start their careers with 6 months of training, followed by another 6 months of field training. They will have to pass a medical exam and a written test.

There are multiple divisions within the PNP, each with its own set of jobs and duties. These include the anti-kidnapping group, traffic patrol group, intelligence operatives, drug enforcement group, and others.
The PNP also has special forces groups such as the Special Action Force. These units are used for law enforcement, ant-hijacking operations and search and rescue in times of national emergencies.
They are supervised by the AFP, which complements the PNP on its pursuit to suppress insurgency and other serious threats to national security.
In addition to their salaries, PNP personnel also receive benefits like longevity pay for every 5 years of service and a mid-year bonus. These are among the perks that keep the officers happy and motivated to do their jobs.

The PNP also has a performance evaluation system, which is administered in accordance with rules and regulations and the Commission’s code of conduct. The system is meant to promote individual efficiency and behavioral discipline, as well as organizational effectiveness. The system also considers the results of physical, psychological and neuropsychiatric examinations conducted on PNP officers and members.
Ranks of PNP officials

In addition, members of the PNP can be granted longevity pay after they have served in the PNP for at least 20 years. This pays them a percentage of their basic pay for every 5 years that they have been with the PNP.
Ranks of PNP cadets
The ranks of cadets in the Philippines are an important part of the police force. They are required to complete a four-year training program before being commissioned to become law enforcement officers. They are able to gain a variety of skills and abilities through their training that will help them in their future career.
The Philippine National Police Academy is the primary police academy in the Philippines. It was founded in 1977 and is considered to be the country’s premiere law enforcement school.
At that time, the academy only accepted cadets who were members of the Integrated National Police (INP). However, in 1996, it changed its admission requirements to include civilian applicants.
This was done to ensure that it would be able to recruit the best possible people. It was also in order to ensure that the academy could maintain its high standards of excellence and integrity.
Cadets of the PNPA are required to undergo a strict training program. They are supervised and guided by their instructors, who are all PNP commissioned officers. They are primarily responsible for ensuring that the cadets are achieving their full potential in their career.
The highest ranking cadet is a Regimental Commander or First Captain, whose responsibility it is to ensure the discipline and welfare of all the cadets. As such, he is the head of all cadets at the PNPA and holds the power of the commanding officer in a chain of commands.
In addition, he is the assistant of the Commandant of Cadets in matters that concern imposing discipline and administering and training the cadets. He is also responsible for the cadets’ morale and psyche.
Another important role of the First Captain is to oversee and coordinate the efforts of all other officers in disciplining cadets. As such, a First Captain can be expected to be very responsive and helpful to other officers in ensuring that all cadets are given the best training they need to succeed in their careers.
The PNPA has no tolerance for misconduct and breach of discipline. In fact, it recently issued a statement saying that the incident that occurred on New Year’s Eve at its Silang, Cavite campus was not acceptable.
